AIPPI World Congress 2020 | World’s leading non-profit association in the Intellectual Property field – AIPPI organizes annual events for its members every year.
These events are great opportunities for seeing IP Practitioners from all over the world and to discuss possible ways of cooperation between colleagues/companies and hot topics in Intellectual Property.
This year, the Annual Congress was planned to be held in Hangzhou, a mesmerizing city that embodies China’s unique culture.
However, as with almost all events in all other fields around the world, this event has been affected by the Covid-19 pandemic and been transformed into an online one.
Online panels, virtual round table meetings, and sessions were held during the Congress which spread over 8 days between 5 – 14 October 2020, the longest period in the history of AIPPI.
During the Plenary Sessions – where the Study Question processes are handled – the four questions under study were:
“IP rights in data”
“Inventorship of inventions made using artificial intelligence”
“Descriptive use as a defense in trademark proceedings”
“Standing to litigate and effect on remedies”
The Founding Partner, Sibel GUMUS, was also in the Turkish team replying patent question “Inventorship of inventions made using artificial intelligence” and had the opportunity to contribute to the country responses provided to the Reporter General team & to attend the Plenary Sessions and ExCo II.
For the first time, the event was free for all AIPPI members (approx. 9,000 legal professionals).
Efor IP & Law Firm was represented by founding partners Sibel GUMUS and Savas GUMUS this year.
